Description

A softbox is most popular for its soft, even light. Softboxes are used heavily in portrait photography and many other types of commercial photography. It is an effective, lightweight tool for reducing light intensity without sacrificing softness.

How it works:

Set the softbox onto a flat surface with the silver side facing up. Place the speedring in the centre with the mount facing downwards.

Set up the rods by connecting the softbox corner with one end and the other end into the speedring. We recommend setting up corners diagonally. Note: rods may bend a bit during assembly and this is perfectly normal for a tight fit.

Fit in diffusers as required. Match the speedring mount to the front of your studio flash and turn clockwise until you hear a clicking noise which indicates it has been locked in. Adjust softbox if required.

This softbox comes with a grid which can allow you to direction your light/ concentrate your light. This is removable so you can use it with or without the grid, depending on your needs.

Specifications:

Softbox: 60x90cm
Default speedring mount is Bowens.

Unless specified this softbox by default comes with the Bowens mount. Other mounts are available at additional $20-$25 each.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT SOFTBOXES

Softboxes are used for softening and increasing the size of a smaller light source, and diffuse bare flash light sources. A softbox controls the shape and direction of light more than an umbrella and prevents more light-spill from occurring.

Softboxes are available in a variety of different shapes and sizes and can all be employed to suit the subject matter. A larger softbox will produce softer light, but will also require greater light output to sufficiently fill the entire softbox.

Aside from different sizes of softboxes, different shapes also allow one to alter the quality of light. This can be especially apparent when photographing people from closer range, since the shape of the light source used can often be seen in the reflections in their eyes (called “catch” lights). Softboxes are available in a variety of shapes such as rectangularsquareoctagonal (8 rods), round (16 rods) , parabolic or long & thin strips

Standard softboxes are designed and made for studio use with Bowens mount speedring. It is not recommended to pull apart frequently for outdoor use which may damage the stitching. Pls buy all in one umbrella softbox that can be easily folded up for quick set up and outdoor use.

You may buy an optional inner ring and change the standard Bowens ring to suit Balcar, Broncolor, Elinchrom, Hensel or Profoto flash.
